A bloody, murderous tale of ambition and revenge. Think Tarantino does Robin Hood, but instead of an honorable noble joining a band of merry rebels, a disinherited young prince who joins a band of murderous bandits. All taking place world that has a lot in common with Medieval Europe, only with a few supernatural horrors spread about. Prince Honorous Jorg, or 'Brother Jorgy' as he is known to his fellow raiders, has a knack for strategy and an urge for homicide. Jorg will murder his friends almost as quick as his enemies to achieve his goals, or just because. While he's the primary character of the story, Jorgy is no hero. The closest thing to a heroic streak he has in him is his thurst for revenge against those who have wronged his family. In fact, I would argue Jorg is the villain of the story. As a general fan of grimdark fantasy, this book did not disappoint. I burned through this novel in less than a week, and am already enjoying the followup.
