a Dawn-to-dusk Guide to Victorian Life
Nov 27, 2017apollospacefan rated this title 5 out of 5 stars
Eye opening peek into the life of Victorians, written by a British historian Ruth Goodman. Goodman can also be seen in various documentaries reenacting period information gleaned from the history books. So you can trust her when she writes, "After a few days I found that I was able to be as vigorous in my corset and with my waist reduced by four inches as ever I was." (p. 70) Goodman brings history to life and writes with so much experience that bland facts are extremely interesting and her book reads well.
