Hauntingly beautiful. Poignant and powerful. This is a wonderful story of a woman's longing for answers about the accident that claimed her mother's life and left her hand disfigured. Clara moves to a small town with her husband, Logan - a Lutheran pastor - while she is carrying their first child. She is led by old stories told to her by her father.
Seth is a troubled teenager who loves animals. He rescued some coyote pups (little wolves) and raised them until they were old enough to fend for themselves. One day, Seth takes a gun, walks into town, and shoots the town's sheriff in the face before committing suicide in a corn field. His devastated father searches for reasons as to why his son would do such a terrible thing.
The two stories intertwine. Other lives are also touched by these events. The "little wolves" also play a role. I highly recommend this novel!
