Ichigo Kurosaki has always been able to see ghosts, but this ability doesn't change his life nearly as much as his close encounter with Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper and member of the mysterious Soul Society. While fighting a Hollow, an evil spirit that preys on humans who display psychic energy, Rukia attempts to lend Ichigo some of her powers so that he can save his family; but much to her surprise, Ichigo absorbs every last drop of her energy. Now a full-fledged Soul Reaper himself, Ichigo quickly learns that the world he inhabits is one full of dangerous spirits and, along with Rukia--who is slowly regaining her powers--it's Ichigo's job to protect the innocent from Hollows and help the spirits themselves find peace.

Now this is more like it.

Fast paced and funny with an ongoing story. Bleach is definitely the kind of manga I should have been reading from the start.

I'm sorry I took so long.

A grim reaper with ninja skills, this basically sums up Ichigo Kurosaki. The hero is a 15 year-old who has inherited his parent's destiny and becomes a Soul Reaper. The illustrations are striking in black and white, the lack of color adds to the grim mood set by Kubo, and worked well with the plot and text causing the reader to feel anticipation with every turned page.

I found this to be a good read, though I do not like to be scared and had an eerie feeling for over half the book. The plot is pretty intriguing and I loved the spin of a Japanese grim reaper.

Read-a-likes include: Soul Eater by Atsushi Ohkubo, Pandora Hearts by Jun Mochizuki, and The Betrayal Knows My Name by Hotaru Odagiri.

Really a good manga to read I highly suggest it. Sadly at around issue 20 the plot repeats, but if you stay with it it gets more interesting at around issue 59.

I love this series! Kubo's art is beautiful, and I will ship Ichigo and Rukia until I die *-*

Really, though, this concept is so interesting and there's the perfect balance of action and comedy.

Kinda slow in the beginning, but keep reading it and it'll pick up. Nice cast too.

Awesome. Orihime and Sora's story is kinda sad.

Is Rukia a soul reaper? Not Death? I see. English version of japanese comics are hand written, not typed. It hard to read very small letters. It's bad. Original is typed and papers are much better but expensive. Anyway, Ichigo stated helping Rukia and got power of Soul reaper. It is fun to see how original story is translated. But translation is not showing 100% of what the original comic was planned to show.

A remarkably good fantasy manga series about a teenage boy who can see spirits and is recruited to be a Soul Reaper. He has to learn about how to use his newfound powers while trying to maintain an ordinary life.
