A powerful novel about slavery so personal that it raises the level of readers' conscious understanding to new heights--from the Coretta Scott King Honor Award-winning author of A Thief in the Village. Berry's distinctive voice spins a poignant tale of a man and his son who are snatched by slave traders from their home in Africa and taken to Jamaica--never to see one another again. (HarperCollins)
