From reading the afterword in this printing of the novel this was one of the last novels he wrote as a nobody on the writers field. This was an intriguing novel with plenty for the reader to imagine. The characters were believable and their emotions like wise. It was life like even to the detail to how the police responded to the initial incident between Hilary Thomas, and Bruno Frye. By the end you are sad for those who seemed to end too soon, But you are left with the realization that the past experiences can cause irreversible damage on people, and some people are evil. Although they could be influenced by their pasts, they are still responsible for the actions they take. Trust me it all ends well even though at times it seems too good to be true. So if you are interested in evil guys, crime, adventures, bravery in going beyond your means, and seeing the bad going down then this is the book for you. Give it a try. So worth the read.
