In 2003, a mild-mannered historian named Moses Lapinsky begins to write a biography of his father, a famous Jewish-Canadian boxer named Sonny. His research takes him from the 1930's to the 1950's, as he describes the fortunes of the Lapinsky family. In particular, it was the events of August 1933, at the riot at Christie Pits Park, which changed the lives of all four Lapinsky brothers forever.
