Although a well written story, readers may be misled by the title. While it certainly is a book about a librarian, it is more about the people of Appalachia--their way of life, their superstitions and culture. The dialogue is peppered with authentic use of dialect which adds flavor and charm to the story.

This book pulled me in and I finished it in two days. I loved the story, found the conflict to be very realistic and enjoyed the sweet ending. I highly recommend it.

"Books can open up worlds beyond the view from one's own window. Stories can stir compassion, can inspire integrity, can show different lifestyles and problem-solving skills. Books, Addie, have the power to change people for the better."
