The incredible true story of a stray dog who became a hero of the First World War. For his keen instincts and fierce loyalty, Stubby is still recognized today as the most decorated canine in American history and the first promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army.

Not recommended for younger kids, the art seems a bit too cute for the war and peril and violence of the story, but overall a heartwarming movie.

Don't be put off by the extra cute cover art. This isn't just a kids' cartoon. It's a well-done animated telling of a real story from World War I. (Watch the "extras" to find out more, see photos of the real dog and humans). The animation is great, some talented folks provide the voices (the dog doesn't speak English, he barks like a dog should, but he is cuter than the real dog. The dog was a highly decorated hero of the US Army, who wasn't drafted, he "volunteered." The battle scenes might be a little scary for little kids, but they didn't get too graphic on the gore of WWI- trench warfare, gas attacks, artillery and such. Highly recommend for family viewing.

It's a movie with the look of a cartoon - and that's OK. Geared toward all ages audience, the animation style may make it more accessible to some (if sharing it with kids under 12, preview it - some war scenes may be too scary). Of interest as a "feel good" story about a rescue dog, as well as for its glimpse into WW! era history - USA isolationism, influenza, Gen Patton cameo, Armistice Day.

This is a funny lossely based story of an actual dog of war. I read about the real Stubby a few years ago and was happy to take this out. I wish the extra features were better and had an actual documentary about Stubby, but that is a minor point.

This movie is not just an animated dog like it states on the Internet, the whole ting is done in really poor animation.
What a shame to waste such a great, interesting true war story on some cheap animation. Any child over 6 would pick up on this.

This movie absolutely blew me away, it was just so good! This dog was a true war hero and I'm so glad they finally made a movie about him. It was heartwarming, funny, and just had the perfect combination of everything all mixed together. I loved seeing the actual pictures of Stubby at the end and I felt compelled to research more about him after seeing this movie. I would definitely recommend this movie to everyone!!

A heartwarming, inspirational tale that 's almost unbelievable--except it's true. I would recommend that everyone, young and old, see this film. Be prepared to laugh, cry, and be awed at the amazing, super-human feats Stubby accomplished. The real-life newspaper photos of this remarkable canine were awe-inspiring. Be sure to view the "bonus features" that offer background information about Stubby's accolades and history. Stubby's story should be part of every high-school textbook that deals with World War I.
