I'm very late to the party watching this movie. I have to say that I'm quite disappointed. The premise of the story is that a Coke bottle falls from the sky among some African bushmen, but it causes strife in the family group so the leader of the group decides he must get rid of it. Along the way to the "edge of the Earth" he encounters "civilization". The movie presents as a comedy, but most of the humor is of the slapstick variety, which I find to be a bore. There is a bunch of bumbling thugs who kidnap some school children, and a weirdly placed romance as well. Despite what you see in this movie, in real life, being a klutz doesn't get you the girl.

A film that represents life as it was in some parts of Africa in 1980: funny, simple, quiet, modest, hard in terms of food procuring, and human connection with nature.

I watched this film many years ago, I am still attracted when watching it again. Although this is a funny film, good for entertainment, it send the hide messages to people: climate changing, living environment protection, wildlife protection, how to live with nature gently. It make us think about sharing and helping each other in community.

A wonderful movie. In it we see the life of this tribe in Africa, how they collect water each morning from dew on the leaves before the Sun evaporates it, how they work and live their lives.

A very gentle insightful Film, with pathos and humor.

A good story, well told.

The Movie is a really funny movie and good for the family but if you want a more modern movie this is not for you. The movie was made in 1980 so the special effects are not that great but it is still good.

The whole family loves this movie -- both the first one and the sequel. Gotta be in the top ten of all-time favourite movies.

This movie is quite funny, in an outdated way. It's important to note the year it was made, and the film budget (I think it was only $25,000). This explains a lot of the rough-shod cinematography and script.
It's not a fantastic film, but for what it is, it makes for a good laugh. This is definitely a film that can be enjoyed while scrapbooking or baking - when you're not bound to be too critical.
