A good airport read, this thriller by Perry concerns a spree-killer who may or may not be on the run from a determined homicide detective. Easy to read but still engaging, it is a good time-killer that won’t really strain your thought processes too much.
Just finished listening to the downloadable audiobook from VPL online. Not certain what kept me listening with interest, right to the finish. Perhaps a combination of fairly clean writing and top quality narration of the audiobook.
From other reading about psychopaths, I don't really buy into Thomas Perry's presentation of his main character and what made her what she is. That's the main drawback in the book for me, a clichéd variation on the theme of bad mothers breeding monsters among us. There are other unlikelihoods in here, about on a par with this genre overall. Still, he did a good job of delivering his fictional bad actor, and Nightlife could be labelled a good read for crime thriller devotees.
