He is living the dream, and his marriage to the bewitching Vivian is the center of that. But underneath the shiny surface of this perfect existence, fault lines are beginning to appear, and no one is more surprised than Russ when he finds every aspect of the life he took for granted turned upside down. In a matter of months, Russ finds himself without a job or wife, caring for his young daughter, and struggling to adapt to a new and baffling reality. If you want to snuggle up to a good love story that is staged right here in Charlotte, North Carolina, “Two by Two” is the perfect book that will warm your heart this cold winter season. Nicholas Sparks has done an excellent job of introducing us to Russell Green and taking the reader right along with this advertising executive on an emotional roller coaster ride as he faces a job change, marital problems, parenting issues along with the challenges associated with caregiving in the time of illness.

This novel shows the struggles of opening a new business, but fighting for what you think it is right.

As my first book by this well-known author, it definitely deserved the few tears I almost shed for it. A deeply moving story about a man named Russell Green twisted its way into my heartstrings and really shifted my idea on relationships. Personally, I had strongly disliked Vivian from the start of the book, where even there she was nothing less of perfect. The author was somehow able to convey negativity in the background of her character, who ended up doing the many things she did. I was stunned by Russell's character development across the book from a meek/hesitant guy to a strong/independent father. But most of all, London is just an amazing little girl who I adored, like any other reader.

I'm kind of surprised by this book. Not at all your typical Nicholas Sparks. I was very disappointed in the male character being so wimpy is was hardly bvelievable that he was supposed to work for a big advertizing agency. Not believable, and his wife was a piece of work and inconsistant in her character, NOT the motherly type at all, very self centered. It just didn't fit and way too much negativity for me. I'm a fan of all his other works, but not this one. Guess you can win them all. Maybe next time.

While it was predictable and slow-moving, it is an interesting read. Russ goes into much detail about his thoughts as he grapples with his roles as father, husband, brother, professional and friend. Life demands much of us, but then, if we cope with those challenges with love, hope & selflessness (and sometimes selfishness when that is needed), rewards us with a different kind of richness than we knew before.

I loved this book but I did find the first part of it a little longer than was completely necessary. Overall it was a great story and I would highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book.

I am usually a fan of Sparks but didn't really enjoy this book at all. Story line was weak and I didn't like the digs he took at peoples beliefs. We should all be able to believe as we wish.

I enjoyed the story and the idea behind this book, but it took me awhile to get into it. The book is almost 500 pages long, and I did not feel that it needed that many pages to achieve the story line. I kept reading at the beginning because although I wasn't in love with the story I was intrigued.

The story line of Russ and his daughter is done very well. The book has you rooting for them the entire time. There were other twists and turns thrown in with his family and personal life throughout the book that kept the story moving along. Again, I think it could have achieved the same result in less pages, but overall I did enjoy this book. I agree with the other reviewers who said the second half of the book is better. Most novels by Spark immediately capture my attention and I can't put them down. However, I did not feel the same way about this book until I was about 250/300 pages into it.

I made it through 75 pages of this book and cannot finish it . I love Sparks books, but this one was frustrating. I do not enjoy seeing a married couple fighting.

"At any given time, I am not the whole me; I am but a partial version of myself and each version is slightly different from the others. But each of these versions of me, I now believe, has always had someone by his side. I'd survived the year because I'd been able to march two by two with those I loved the most."
