I laughed when Willy slapped the kid in the original...but maybe the kids need to be scared sometimes.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory is a movie based on a book by Roald Dahl with a strong plot i loved how the owner of the chocolate factory had alliterative motives on the ending surprise his goal was to find one true person to take over the factory as he would not be able to one day. I also enjoy the part where no matter the circumstance the little boy charlie always remained positive and never turned bratty i would most definitely not change anything about this storyline it was portrayed really nicely with really good actors. The audience i recommend this to is a younger tween age group although at my age I still really enjoy this film. I rate this movie a 4 out of 5. @movieslayer123 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a fun children’s movie. It had many different kinds of special effects which was very cool to watch. This movie is a lesson about being nice to one another and always never follow the path to greed because it could eventually lead you to trouble and never having the wish to always get what you want. I would rate this movie 4 out of 5 because I really liked it and it was an amazing movie to watch. @BirdieBooks of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a timeless classic that I'll never get tired of watching. The movie follows 11 year old Charlie who wins a tour around Willy Wonka's chocolate factory and has an experience of a lifetime while there. The film has lots of meaning as it shows how greed can change people, but it also has humour as well. The cast includes Johnny Depp (who plays Willy Wonka), Freddie Highmore (who plays Charlie Bucket) and AnnaSophia Robb (who plays Violet Beauregarde). I believe that the movie is loved by families all around the world because of the creative scenes that it has as well as the overall theme of the movie. The film features lots of chocolate and candy which is also another factor to it's popularity. I would rate the movie 5/5 stars because I love everything about it; From the set design, to the actors, to the script, it was great! I would recommend this movie to all ages because I feel like everyone can enjoy this film (no matter how old you are). @bookworm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a fun and interesting movie to watch. This is an iconic movie that everybody knows about. It had many different plot twists and suspenseful moments. I first watched this movie at school and I found it quite funny in some scenes. Especially the scene where each of the four kids did something to mess up and where out of the contest. This film has a life lesson in it, about being pleasant to one another and to never follow the route of greediness because it will never lead you to the right place. and lead you to the route of trouble. I would recommend it to kids 7+. I really had fun watching it. It is a fantastic film! 5/5. @TheBookWorm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board.

This movie was such a big part of my childhood. I have watched it several times and every time it gets even better. This is such an interesting movie to watch with all the adventures and amazing times. This movie teaches many good lessons such as right from wrong in an amazing way. I love the climatology in the movie as well because it made it that much more interesting. Overall, it is am amazing movie and would totally recommend it to young kids and teenagers. I would give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars. @terrificbooklover of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board

as Adult. I like to watch this movie. Full of creativity, Imagination and reveries. The story is not necessarily for Kids but more for adult.

This has people I really like in it, but i really quite disliked this film. I know it was closer to the book in many ways then the original, but it just really didn't do it for me.

There were five golden tickets, so really the description should read "Charlie and four others"

This movie has a Parental Guidance (PG) warning for good reason as the chocolate factory tour winners are gradually "eliminated" to leave Charlie Bucket with the ultimate dilemma of abandoning his family in order to inherit the marvelous chocolate factory. The song and dance routines are pure Bollywood!

I found this film to be a much better adaptation of the story over the first movie. Burton kept the whimsy of the original story, but also had the darker undertone that runs under Roald Dahl's books, which was missing from the first film. I thought Johnny Depp's Willy Wonka was closer to what Dahl intended over Gene Wilder's performance.

The movie is not that creepy. I watched it at school and I
liked Willy Wonka.

I want to go too

I liked it. Like most commenters, I've seen the original movie and read the book. The Umpa Lumpa songs were a highlight along with the squirrels, and of course Christopher Lee.

Good morning, starshine... the earth says hello!

Apr 06, 2011

Willy Wonka: Do you like my meadow? Try some of my grass! Please have a blade, please do, it's so delectable and so darn good looking!
Charlie Bucket: You can eat the grass?
Willy Wonka: Of course you can! Everything in this room is eatable, even *I'm* eatable! But that is called "cannibalism," my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies.

Willy Wonka: I sure hope no part of him gets left behind.
Mr. Teavee: What do you mean?
Willy Wonka: Uh, well... sometimes only half of the little pieces find their way through. If you had to choose only one half of your son, which one would it be?
Mr. Teavee: What kind of a question is that?
Willy Wonka: No need to snap, just a question.

Apr 06, 2011

Willy Wonka: You're all quite short, aren't you?
Violet Beauregarde: Well yeah, we're children.
Willy Wonka: Well that's no excuse. I was never as short as you.
Mike Teavee: You were once.
Willy Wonka: Was not. Know why? Because I distinctly remember putting a hat on top of my head. Look at your short little arms. You could never reach.
