This is one of the best books I have read about the first world war, and I have read many. I am quite young, and fell in love with this book after my school library started buying this series. Absolutely amazing story of loss, love, war, friendship and remembering...

Paul Townend trains and becomes a pilot in the first world war. He befriends Billy, another Canadian, and they support each other while many on their teams are dying. While Paul's brother is fighting in the trenches, Paul fights in the sky. And, he meets Nellie, a pretty English farmgirl. This truely phenominal story of a Canadian pilot shows the hardships of war, loss and grief, but also demonstrates the importance of having friends, especially in times like these. Paul also find that not all people understand, and finds that his brother is one of the others who truly understands back home. But will he survive when his squadron is set against the infamous Red Baron?
