Downton Abbey

Season Two

DVD - 2012
Average Rating:

Season two returns as the Great War rages across Europe, and not even the serene Yorkshire countryside is free from its effects. The men and women of Downton are doing their part both on the front lines and the home front, but the intensity of war only serves to inflame the more familiar passions of love, loss, blackmail, and betrayal.

May 12 2014, just watched Part One, tis a sad one, I had to hold back my tears. I'd just like to say, that out of the recent series that I have watched, this one is my favourite, and lo and behold, it has no nude women, lewd sexual acts, f-words, or even a ton of blood pouring out all over the place. There is definitely lots of evil characters, plotting and scheming and heroes. I'm glad to see that we don't really need the gross stuff to make a good show. My faith is restored! I'll be looking for more of this kind in the future. I did visit England a couple of years ago. This show almost makes me want to brave that long plane ride again, just to see the castle. Of course the library is my favourite room in it. (I did get to tour a castle in Wales, and the library was fantastic, although you couldn't touch the books. Pity!)

a little darker than the first season, i think; but still a fascinating show!
